"There’s no denying the exhilaration of watching a group of expert musicians tear through a clever, genre-bending programme in a space that would barely accommodate a medium-sized dinner party." (Manchester Confidential, reviewing New Islington Sessions)
Our first programme for 2019 is called Secret Sounds, and at its heart is an arrangement of William Byrd’s epic, passionate 4-part mass (c.1592). Written at a time of intense religious conflict, it probably would have been performed at clandestine, illegal services in the homes of Catholic families. Between sections of this piece we’ll play music that jumps between genres and continents.
So far we have events in the diary in London, Coventry and Manchester. Head to our attend page for more information
You can also hear some of the music we will be playing here.
